About Petra
So you are wondering who I really am?

I'm not very complicated even if many people might think so. I tend to want to see people smile so I hope that this description about me will make you smile a bit.

I was born in the sixties (1962 to be more exact) in a small town in northern Sweden called Örnsköldsvik. My parents are named Gun and Gunnar which should make you smile if you know what the English word of ”gun” means. My mother is a journalist at the Swedish National Radio (Sveriges Radio) and my father has so many skills that it would take a whole page just to describe him. I'll try to make it simple; my father is an artist and painter but he also works with theater and drug therapy.

I also have a little sister, Anja (from my father's second marriage). She was born in the eighties (1980 to be exact) so we haven't been growing up together. My sister is very talented, she's been dancing all her life and now she's studying dance in Stockholm.

I live in Luleå, which is even more north than the town I was born in. I have lived in Luleå since I was 10 years old so I consider Luleå to be my home town. I'm living with my husband Ben Hall and we own a small apartment in the downtown area of Luleå. We have no children but we do own two Siamese cats, Sam & Suzy.

My husband Ben is a PC/network technician and he's originally from St. Catharines in Ontario, Canada. Ben and I met through the Internet, which might sound pathetic but that's how it happened (these are modern times, remember). We fell in love and Ben moved to Sweden in February 1998 to stay with me, since I'm having some health problems and couldn't move with him to Canada. We got married in June 21st 2002 here in Luleå.

My main interests involve computers. I've been a Mac-geek since 1985 and haven't looked back since. Right now I own 2 Macintosh computers, one stationary and one laptop. I've been working with Desktop Publishing and Graphic Design for years and I've also been known to build a homepage now and then (see Portfolio and Creativity).

I often spend time on the Internet and you'll find me mostly in diffrent web forums. Here's a list of a few of the forums where you can find me on the web:

But I don't only spend time on the Internet. I also read a lot. I have many favorite authors so I'm not going to list them here. I've also re-descovered my old hobby; photography. I bought a digital camera in mid-october 2000 and got hocked at once. I'm now on my 3rd digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix 5700. It's great fun and I've even set up an online Photoalbum for you to see.

I asume you've noticed that I've mentioned my health, so I guess I should talk about that a bit too. I've got a disease called RRP for short and it translates to Reccurent Respiratory Papillomatosis, which means that I've got problems with my throat and breathing. I have been sick for many years and not been able to work because of that. Thankfully things are looking up and I'm feeling a lot better now. I have written a hospital diary that I kept when it was really bad (it's now pretty old and outdated) and I have also been interviewed in some newspapers and magazines because of this.

I don't like pity, so don't feel bad about me. Visit my mascot Rutger's homepage and get a laugh instead. Rutger accompanies me all the time to the hospital so I thought he would get his own homepage. He's telling some amazing stories (not much of it true) and he also has some fun stuff that kids can play with when they are bored (coloring pages, labyrinths etc).

I hope you enjoy my site and feel free to email me if you find something you'd like to comment on.
